Co-founder and Senior Partner
Stephen Jordan is the co-founder and Co-CEO of IO Sustainability (IO), a management consulting firm focused on corporate responsibility, sustainability, stakeholder relations, and win-win solutions for businesses and their civic partners.
Previously, Jordan founded and served as executive director of the Business Civic Leadership Center, a not-for-profit 501(c)-3 affiliate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce focused on corporate social responsibility and public-private partnerships.
He established the Citizens Awards, the Business for Good research map, “The Role of Business” report series, and the Help Desk system for small business CSR issues. He has played a role in founding and/or developing a wide range of networks, coalitions, and other vehicles designed to bring “strange bedfellows” together to drive solutions to shared problems.
A globally recognized expert in public-private relations, corporate social responsibility, ethics, and disaster recovery and resilience, he has been invited to speak and present around the world, cited in a wide range of media, and has written and edited numerous studies and reports, most notably “Two Steps Forward, One Step Back: A Brief History of Corporate Citizenship and Corporate Social Responsibility.”
Before starting BCLC, Mr. Jordan served as executive director of the Association of American Chambers of Commerce in Latin America. Previously, he worked in the publishing industry for K-3 Communications and as a legislative assistant in the U.S. Senate.
He is on the Board of Advisors of the Corporate Responsibility Officers Association, the U.S. Commission for UNESCO, and is a fellow of the Caux Roundtable.
He holds an MBA from Georgetown University and an MA in Political and Social Thought from the University of Virginia with high academic honors from both institutions.
