Vision
The Corporate Responsibility Officers Association will be the professional society advancing the CRO community and its role within corporations worldwide.
Mission
The Corporate Responsibility Officers Association seeks to:
- Clearly define the role of the Corporate Responsibility Officer as it evolves and matures
- Strengthen the community of practice across all Corporate Responsibility disciplines
- Establish professional development and certification programs that contribute to establishing the profession of the Corporate Responsibility Officer
- Assemble, publish, promote, and maintain best practices for use by the community of members
- Establish methods for verifying and accrediting use and compliance with the established standards and practices of the Corporate Responsibility Officers Association
Objectives
Membership Development.
The Membership Committee will oversee growth in membership throughout 2009-10 to encompass a representative number of member companies engaged in corporate responsibility to include an equal balance of corporate responsibility executives, organizations that provide products and services, and the communities that influence policy, legislation, and perceptions.
Membership Services.
The Membership Committee will oversee the establishment of a committee and workgroup structure to manage the work of the CROA and engage members.
The Membership Committee will oversee implementing online networking forums using established social media, e.g., LinkedIn, and build a network of subject matter experts accessible to the community.
The Professional Development & Certification Committee will develop and publish a roadmap defining the components required to constitute Corporate Responsibility as a profession as well as a timeline for establishing the professional body of knowledge for practitioners.
The Research, Content, & Events Committee will make available best practices to include:
- Annual publication of best practices in identified CR areas.
- An indexed online library of best practices using causality- and perception-based research, e.g., evidentiary research demonstrating the efficacy of a given practice and/or studies of existing perceptions in the field regarding specific topics. These may include but are not limited:
- State of the Corporate Responsibility Profession Study: An assessment of the current state of the profession.
- Assess Professional Improvement Opportunities. Review the results of the study and determine appropriate actions to improve the state of the profession.
